Ahhhh, finally Spring is here!  With the warm weather and bright sunny days, now is a great time to go through the Spring checklist of maintenance items.  Checking off these Spring Maintenance items for your Connecticut and Massachusetts homes will ensure everything in, on and around your home is in great condition.  So here are just a few basic maintenance tips for you to consider:

1. Check The Condition Of Your Roof

At ground level, examine your roof for missing or damaged shingles.  Winter can certainly take its toll on older roofs, which could lead to interior damage in the future.  If you do have an older roof, consider budgeting for a replacement in the future.  While Summer doesn’t include snow and ice, the sun can have damaging effects on shingles that are older.  If your roof has severe damage and you’re considering replacement, make sure you call the team at DiGiorgi Roofing.

2. Check those gutters!

Now that everything is melted and rain is the precipitation choice of the season, making sure your gutters are attached properly (not loose) and leak free will help against water leaking to basement and/or crawl spaces.  Also make sure that the downspouts drain away from the foundation of your home and are clear from debris of any sort.

3.  Fill in yard dips

With the Spring rains and melting, you may notice that parts of your yard including areas around the foundation area, may be significantly lower.  In these areas, consider filling with compacted soil.  When leveling these areas, you diminish the chance for yard flooding and small pools to create which can cause damage and form perfect breeding areas for insects and bugs.

4.  Check wood trimming

Another simple task is to simply check the wood trim around your windows, doors and other areas for possible exposure.  Making the fixes now versus later will prevent further damage that rain fall may cause to these simple fixes.
