An amazing story that ends with determination, strength and courage.
Here at DiGiorgi Roofing & Siding, we aren’t just a business, we are company comprised of mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, uncles and friend. We are all family.
We recently heard about Khrystin’s story and were moved and touched. Its a story that we all can take something away from. It shows the strength and power of the mind and understanding that giving up is not an option.
Khrystin was 22 years old at the time of her diagnosis with acute promyelocytic leukemia (AML). Khrystin’s three-year cancer journey was extremely challenging: four months into her treatment, she developed a septic infection resulting in a medically induced coma until she could recover. Blood flow to her extremities was compromised and Khrystin had to have all of her fingers and most of her toes amputated.
I’m a fighter and it isn’t difficult to figure out where I got my strength and courage. I learned to walk and care for myself. There are some things I can’t do on my own but there are so many things I can do and that makes me proud of all I’ve accomplished. After completing her chemotherapy in August of 2013, Khrystin is happy to report that she is cancer free.
Carol DiGiorgi and others will be walking in support of Khrystin and those who are fighting the battle. Khrystin was nominated as a 2014 Honored Hero by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be actively raising money for the event. If you would like to donate or walk with Khrystin, please visit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Website for more information and details about the event.
A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.
